Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan threw his boot at the linesman during his team’s game against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey
Hot headed players have been a part of the game of football ever since the game was invented back in the 19th Century and hot headed players losing their temper have provided added entertainment to the sport for a long time.
Never in my wildest dreams though could I have imagined that I would see a professional footballer playing at the highest level hurl his boot at a linseman because he disagreed with a call that the official made. This was exactly what happened in the Spanish Copa Del Rey quarter-final clash between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the Vicente Calderon. Atletico’s Turkish winger Arda Turan is the man responsible for this hilariously obscene crime as he flung his right boot at the head of the linesman after he was penalized. The forward had previously lost his boot just seconds ago and he made use of the loose piece of footwear by throwing it at the linesman. What is even more appalling is that the player was only booked with a yellow card for this unbelievable offense.
