Football matches are as unpredictable as the weather in London and you never know what can happen during the 90 minutes for which a game is on. Last minute winners, goalkeeper’s scoring dramatic equalizers and comical errors are all regular stuff in this topsy turvy sport that leaves you on the edge of your seat. Straight red cards within the opening minute are downright rare though!
And we came across one such rare occasion during Friday night’s Championship game between AFC Bournemouth and Watford. Watford defender Gabriele Angella got a straight red card for bringing down Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson just 28 seconds after the game kicked off! The decision is surely a contentious one and referee Lee Probert found himself on the end of a tirade of frustration from the away team’s players. The game finished 2-0 in favour of home team AFC Bournemouth and undoubtedly so, because their opponents had to play the entire game with 10 men.
