Own goals are a part and parcel of football and the poor souls who usually score them are treated with much derision and ridicule. But just sometimes you come across an own goal that steals your breath and leave you gasping for words.

One such incident occurred in a Dutch second division game between FC Oss and FC Einhoven. Jordi Balk, a centre back playing for FC Oss managed to score one of the best own goals ever as he swung in an exquisite lofted shot over the head of his own ‘keeper from 25 yards out. Unfortunately for Balk, his side failed to recover as they went on to lose the game 2-1. Check out the brilliant own goal below.
