Bravery is a huge requirement when you’re playing a contact sport such as football, but one young man has taken bravery to the next level. Atletico Madrid centre back Jose Gimenez did the unthinkable during his team’s La Liga clash against Getafe at the Vicente Calderon. The 20 year old Uruguay international found himself taken out of the picture by a good piece of skill by Getafe’s Fredy Hinestroza, but like any good defender, Gimenez got himself back in the frame by blocking his opponent’s shot after getting his head in the way while still being sprawled on the ground.
Gimenez showed complete disregard for his body and this act was very well received by the Atleti fans, and why wouldn’t it be. Check out this brave piece of defending in the video below.
