France forward Olivier Giroud faced some real stick from his country’s fans during their last friendly against Cameroon on Monday night. The Arsenal attacker is his nation’s first choice striker after Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema was left out of the squad that would participate in the Euros.
Being chosen to play for your country is certainly a lot of pressure, but shouldering the weight of being their first choice striker is a whole other situation altogether. The 29-year-old really needed to step up his game after receiving a torrent of abuse from French football fans, and it turns out that Giroud gave them the most fitting reply ever.
Rather than getting stuck into a war of words with the masses, Giroud let his actions do the talking as he found the back of the net in his side’s friendly against Scotland, their last ahead of the Euros. And if scoring a goal wasn’t enough, Giroud managed to pull it off in the most sublime fashion ever!
