Top Bookie’s New Ad Reveals Scotland’s Euro 2016 anthem

A new Paddy Power advert has been released, containing the new Scotland Euro 2016 anthem. The fact that Scotland didn’t qualify is the whole point of the joke. It pokes fun at the Scots while at the same time parodies the English by its similarity to their 1998 song Vindaloo.

The ad features a collection of big name Scottish celebrities lining up alongside Michelle McManus, including The Krankies, ex-footballers Frank McAvennie and Andy Goram, and even a cameo from the Loch Ness Monster. It’s received quite a lot of press attention and has been generally very well received, despite some predictable whinging in some quarters. No matter what you do, someone will always find a way to be offended it would seem. But most people, both English and Scots, seem to agree that the video is very funny.

It urges the Scots to put their thumb-twiddling time to good use by “betting on England to lose”. Paddy Power is one of the top UK betting sites, so we’d expect quite a few people to be dong exactly that – and as usual, those bets would have paid off!
