The coin that was tossed into the air by the Norwegian referee, managed to land on the players head!
The pre-match coin toss is of course one of the most well known rituals in the game of football. It is used to decide which team kicks off the game and is not of the utmost importance, but it’s a tradition that has kept on going.
So what was so special about the coin toss in a Norwegian league match between Stromgodset and Lillestrom? Well, the referee, a Svein Oddvar Moen managed to hit the headlines after conducting probably the best coin toss ever! As the ref flipped the coin into the air, Stromgodset captain Espen Bugge Pietersen was waiting for the coin to land on the pitch when it actually made a detour and landed on the players head.
