Man Utd could give Man City guard of honour

City have already beaten Utd at Old Trafford this season

That’s right, Manchester City are due to host city rivals Manchester United on the weekend of 7th April and could have the title victory sewn up ahead of the derby clash. Pep’s side already have a 15-point gap at the top of the Premier League table and with the way they’re playing currently they could have the title won as early as the end of March.

In recent years the league champions have been applauded out onto the pitch by their opponents the game after they have just won the league. United teams over the years have had it done when they have won the title early. In fact United got a guard of honour at Stamford Bridge when Mourinho was still in charge of Chelsea. Of course it’s not a rule, it is just optional.

It’s already been a season to remember for the blue half of Manchester and City could be on for a record-breaking points tally as it stands. City of course haven’t won anything as yet and there is a long way to go this season but if they timed it right it could mean making Manchester United suffer further indignity in the 176th Manchester derby.

Pep to receive guard of honour from Man Utd?
