Manchester United 3 Southampton 2 in the EFL Cup Final at Wembley

Manchester United played and beat Southampton in the League (EFL) Cup final yesterday at Wembley in a superb game. Some cup finals are dull and some cup finals are very one sided. However, this game was brilliant and seemed to have everything with end to end football.

Man of the Match Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored first from a freekick, followed by a strike from Jesse Lingard in the first half but that didn’t tell the whole story. As Southampton were the strangley the better team and had a goal of their own disallowed for off side when it clearly wasn’t.

New saints striker Gabbiadini scored on the stroke of half-time to keep the game alive and within ten minutes of the second half he’d scored again. More chances came and went then for both teams, but Zlatan was the man in the right place again as he headed the winner with just minutes to go.
