Last minute winners are a treat to watch unless you are a player or a fan of the club who conceded it. They’re even better when scored by goalkeepers. Now add the words “diving header” into the mix and what you have is a goal of legendary status.
Step forward Portland Thorns custodian Michelle Betos. The goalie went racing up the pitch in a bid to add an extra man in the mix as her side were trailing FC Kansas City by a goal to nil with just a minute remaining on the clock in a National Women’s Soccer League match. Betos took up an unmarked spot near the penalty spot as one of her teammates swung in a corner. What happened next is surely a dream for the ‘keeper who has got to be in seventh heaven by now.
